The Daniel Island Community Foundation is a nonprofit corporation duly organized under the laws of the State of South Carolina. This private 501 (c) 3 organization is financially supported by donations from Daniel Island Residents, businesses and employees.
The Daniel Island Community Foundation was set up as a vehicle to fund non-profit initiatives. A resident advisory committee has been established to assist in identifying charitable causes and organizations important to Daniel Island residents.
Annually, the cumulative tax deductible gifts that are donated to each of the below featured nonprofits will be matched up to $5,000 by the Daniel Island Community Fund.
About Reading Partners:
Reading Partners has been a part of the Charleston educational landscape since 2013, when we merged with Book Buddies and began pairing community volunteers with students in under-resourced schools to help students improve literacy skills. Our one-on-one tutoring empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by engaging community volunteers to provide individualized, personal attention to each student in our program.
Reading Partners believes that all children deserve the opportunity to succeed. Partnering with our local community members and leaders from local school districts, we are working towards a future where every child has the individualized support they need to become strong readers and lifelong learners.
Reading Partners is committed to ensuring that South Carolinians can look forward to a bright future. Working closely with Charleston County and Berkeley County School District leaders, the philanthropic community, and families, Reading Partners serves 16 Title I elementary schools across Charleston and Berkeley Counties. In the Charleston region, we currently work with more than 800 students thanks to almost 900 community volunteers who give their time every week to ensure success for budding young readers.
