Richardson Dees Primary School is situated in Wallsend close to the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and is amongst the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods nationally. A relatively high proportion of our children are therefore from economically disadvantaged groups, and face barriers to future attainment. RDPS is a key part of the local community, and we are passionate about helping our students attain the best that they can, whatever their background.
One of our priorities in school is to foster a love of reading and we are currently working hard to encourage an ethos of reading for pleasure. As part of this process we have moved our library to a new room and are naming it The Tree House. We hope that it will become a cosy and relaxing environment for our children to choose books and read them in. We do not have a great deal of funds with which ti finish the room to a high standard and we are hoping that you will be able to help us! We are holding a cake and book sale at school to raise money, and have set up this Go Fund Me
This Go Fund Me is being run by Lisa Shillito Roberts , one of our parent governors. Lisa grew up in Holy Cross, Wallsend, and now works at Newcastle University. She has previously run successful online fundraisers for charities. The money raised will be used to purchase furniture, decorations and materials listed below.
