Check it out!
We had originally planned for AirPlay 2 to be held in February, but we have decided to push our date to April 10th.
This is due to us securing a new location for the event, and to help improve on the planing process.
We are not looking at the change of the date as a negative. Think of a developer pushing the date of a game back, in order to improve on a game. We wish to deliver a quality product event for the gaming public.
Now for a personal note from Aaron Pabon.
Recently; I have been seeing a lot of talk online about the current state of #gamergate, what it is now, how it is changing away from its current rhetoric to newer issues. At the same time, I have also been seeing people talk about AirPlay 2, and have either no interest, want us to only concentrate on one issue, or think that this will only be an event to pander to YouTubers and E-Celebs.
This has had many asking us if this would change, alter, or end any plans for AirPlay 2.
These talks, discussions, or changes, regardless of their outcome, will in no way alter our plans for AirPlay 2.
Regardless of what change happens in #gamergate, it will not change what GJN has journalistically defined #gamergate as: an online, gaming, and consumer controversy.
Controversies often chance and evolve; and in turn, we need to ask what new changes are happening, and report on them with due-diligence.
This has also led to a follow-up question: Is AirPlay 2 a #gamergate event?
AirPlay 2 is a free speech event and journalism ethics event. Please not that I did not say that this is a "Gamergate is about ethics in gaming journalism event" nor is this a "Pro-GG" event.
The event is designed to continue the conversation that started at the first AirPlay, ask questions about the ethical issues in gaming journalism, and invite the press from various areas to discuss / ask questions about the gamergate controversy, and an opportunity to conduct live journalism. The panelists we have invited will also have time for their own panels.
We are asking Pros, Neutrals, and Antis questions from all sides of the controversy in a neutral setting to understand all sides of the controversy.
Many have also expressed their disappointment about the lack of involvement from the Society of Professional Journalists, or that this will have not credibility because this is not an SPJ event.
While the first AirPlay was ran by Michael Koretzky from the SPJ, at an SPJ event; they had no interest in continuing to have other gamergate related events (at this moment). Koretzky was hoping for someone else to continue the conversation, and we decided to continue it.
We are talking to the SPJ for help and are securing members to appear at AirPlay 2 as a panelist.
I hope this answered any questions, but if you have more, please message us.
Also, please help us out by donating to our gofundme campaign at gofundme.com/airplay2
Thank you.

Hello. My name is Aaron Pabon, Anchor and Managing Editor of Game Journalism Network (GameJournalism.net).
GJN is in the process of planing and hosting Airplay 2, a continuation of the SPJ Airplay panels that were hosted at Forging the Future 2015.
These panels were about questioning the ethical standards in gaming journalism, and about the controversy known as GamerGate.
The original conversation, however, was cut short, due to multiple bomb threats.
The next AirPlay, will be hosted at a TBA location in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
Security will be a high priority, and this time around we will that the highest precautions are taken with no expense spared to ensure the safety of event attendees and panelists. We've learned from the first AirPlay and will ensure that no false bomb threats, violent threats, protest, or dangerous individuals will harm the attendees or silence this open discussion. Police will be present, private security will be hired, and regular sweeps of the building will be made to ensure the building is 100% secure.
AirPlay 2 will be live streamed on GJN's YouTube channel, and will both pick up where the last AirPlay left off, host a new discussion and formal debate, and separate from the main panel room will will a secondary panel room for speakers or groups of speakers to host their own live panels. These are open to whatever subject the speakers requesting decide on.
For security, funds for securing the location, and equipment for adequate live streaming, we are looking for $5,000.
Currently, we have a confirmed location, but for security reasons, we are not revealing the location at this time. Approximately $3000 will be for securing panelists travel and lodging. The rest of the funds will be used for proper streaming equipment, and security.
GJN will be transparent with both the funds, and funders. In addition, we will post detailed receipts on it's website at gamejournalism.net
We want to make it clear that this is neither a pro or anti Gamergate event. GJN is hoping for this to be a neutral zone for an open discussion for both sides of the issues related to the controversy, conduct live journalism, and document it.
