Paradise Fire Relief

Donation protected
Several of our Ironworker members have lost everything.  Their homes.  Their history.  Their family memories.  The tire swing they first pushed their children on.  The front porch where they listened to stories from their elders, or the laughter of their grandchildren.
Some of these men have since retired and become active members of their community.  Some have spent years, sacrificed family time, driving hours to various outlying areas to work, in order to build their dream home.  In some cases these men were the ones who trained and mentored the younger craftsmen in our trade.  They instilled pride, and taught the trade in order for it to prosper and continue.  These men built the buildings all over the North State and in other areas as well, if need be.
We are just beginning to grasp the utter devastation and heartbreak of their narrow escapes, or tragic circumstance.
It is our hope that together we can raise funding for Ironworker members who have lost their homes or who are unable to inhabit their homes in some cases due to lack of infrastructure.  We would like to offer counseling for those who just need someone to talk to and help them cope with their loss and their experience.
The Ironworkers Labor Management Cooperative Trust, in cooperation with the of District Council of Iron Workers of the State California and Vicinity , the Western Steel Council have pledged their financial assistance to this cause.  We will challenge our employers, Ironworkers, consultants and citizens to contribute anything they can.  The need is immediate.  Folks are living in cars, with host families, and in some cases are desperately trying to stay in temporary motel housing.
The funds will be administered by Greg McClelland of the LMCT and Karl Pineo of Ironworkers Local 118.
