I am beyond pleased to announce that I have been chosen to represent my company, Randstad, for our Kilimanjaro Challenge in Africa!
In 2019, Randstad celebrates our 15 year partnership with VSO - Voluntary Service Overseas. I will be paying for my own trip to Tanzania - and I have enlisted the support of friends and family to help me with fundraising. Through the challenge we want to raise funds for one of VSOs projects in which Randstad colleagues are also working as volunteers - the Lake Zone project.
The funds we raise will:
1. Provide start-up kits for selected youth entrepreneurs to kick start their businesses after their training. Every start-up kit will be different and in-line with ambitions, talents and needs of the youth entrepreneur.
2. Include Theater for a Change performances in the project as a key tool to enable girls and young women to access the career pathways or their choice by addressing social barriers that currently obstruct them from doing so. The theater performances are highly interactive and include a wide range of community members, including men and boys, who can support girls and women to pursue the careers they envision by taking down identified barriers. All performances with a community action plan.
3. Run additional training cycles with girls and young women to increase the reach of the project. The content of the courses will be based on demand and in line with outcomes from the jobs of the future analysis.
Finally, we will be visiting Tanzania Local Enterprise Development, which is working with existing small businesses to support their growth and become tomorrow's employers or purchasers.
