Our firefighters risk not only their lives but their health to help and save us. Cancer has become the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths for firefighters. Our homes are now filled with burning plastics, electronics and flame retardants which leaves behind a black soot that sticks to firefighters like tar.
After a fire their gear should be properly cleaned in a specialized machine called an extractor washing machine. Smaller fire departments do not have this machine mostly due to the expense of it.
As a community to show our appreciation to the firefighters we need to raise funds of $20,000 to get and install this washing machine.
Together we can save their lives so that they can continue to save ours!!!
This fundraiser is completely managed by Heidi VanDeSteeg. I will be working with the fire department throughout the whole process of this fundraiser.
