Hello!

My name is Ramona. I'm 36, a single mom of two boys and I have breast cancer. It still feels unreal to write that... I have breast cancer. Her2+ breast cancer to be exact, that has spread to my lymph nodes as well... great.

When you find out you have cancer and are a single mom of two, it really is one of the scariest things you could imagine. Trying to keep things as normal as possible, while going through very aggressive treatment and being terribly ill from these treaments is not easy. Trying to still be mommy and cook dinner and play or help with homework is incredibly challenging. My children have been such supportive, positive people through this, they really make me so proud.

Since my cancer is pretty aggressive and I am still very young, the treatment is also incredibly aggressive and hard. It consists of chemo, a mastectomy of my breast, radiation, and targeted drug therapy.

Needless to say, I have not been able to work like I was before the diagnosis. I never thought cancer would be so expensive. There are many expenses that go along with the illness that are not covered by insurance and it's so frustrating to not only have to fight through dealing with this disease, but also have to worry about just living and making it financially. I don't have a partner that can help pay for things, it's just my income and it's been a challenge. My mother has been trying to help me. I don’t know what I would do without her. She has been working many extra hours, often without a day off or sleep, and still tries to come over to help me at home. It has been incredibly hard on her and is taking it’s toll on her health as well.

It's hard asking for help, but I don't want to leave any stone unturned in my fight against this life-threatening disease. I want to keep fighting hard and giving it everything I got. Your financial gift will help me pay for my out of pocket medical expenses and to keep the power on and a roof over our heads.

It is time for me to heal so that I can be here to take care of my two beautiful children.
