If you had just one conversation with Ramiro, or hundreds, his warm personality made you an instant fan of this young man whom we lost far too soon.

Ramiro Calixto influenced many lives and became a real presence in the youth sports community in Chicago.  If your family or team spent time at Bradley Sports Center, you undoubtedly knew Ramiro as the welcoming smile at the front desk, the professional who would do anything to serve his guests, the friend to so many young players, and the huge fan of the game that so many of us love.  He made sure that, when families were at the BSC, they felt welcome and safe.  Ramiro fostered an atmosphere in which every kid was having fun and was becoming the best they could possibly be -- at whatever they were doing.

For those of us who have had the honor of sharing his contagious smile, we are without words to describe the void that is now present.

Ramiro poured his heart and soul into the people he engaged with, and he loved baseball – whether watching it, playing it, or teaching it.  The baseball community in Chicago was a better place for the fact that Ramiro was a part of it.  As a baseball community, we are now rallying his/our baseball network to help his family in their time of need and as a way to honor him as we all say good-bye.

Ramiro had a vision to offer financial assistance to any baseball or softball organizations, teams or players who desired access to high level training and practice facilities but could not take advantage of such facilities because of the costs associated.  He was adamant that all players should have opportunities, and he sought to find a way to make this possible.   Ramiro was weeks away from launching his own campaign to pursue funding for such individuals and teams – thus helping them eliminate impediments to becoming as good as they could be.

Any funds raised will be directed, in Ramiro’s name, to help support baseball and softball programs, teams and players in need around the city.  It is our hope that this fund will be the starting point for the realization of Ramiro’s dream of helping all players become as good as they possibly can be.  Such a legacy would not only ensure that Ramiro is recognized for the indelible impact he had on so many young athletes, but would also ensure that his love of the game and his love of people live on for many years to come.

Good Evening Everyone,

The time has come to close the fund and put to use the incredible donations that you all have made in Ramiro's memory to work.

To begin this process, it is important to know where the monies currently are, when they will be withdrawn and who will be responsible for them once this occurs.

Currently, all of the donations reside with GoFundMe. The withdrawing process of the monies has been set up by Ramiro's family and the money will be received by his father, Humberto Calixto and deposited into their bank account.

Once the withdraw is complete, Humberto, Ramiro's immediate family and myself will create the process of administering the funds in a manner that is exactly how Ramiro envisioned money like this would be used.

We anticipate getting the monies to those who need it most sometime early next year.

We will also create a means by which all of you can check in to see who has benefitted and keep you informed of some of the exciting ways we intend to help young athletes for many years to come.

Thank you all so very much for this amazing journey you have all been a part of. Yes, this journey was born out of unimaginable tragedy, and still today the shock of that fateful morning remains.

But now in so many ways and for so many people, Ramiro will be with all of us all of the time, not just when we were lucky enough to be with him.

As Ramiro would say to just about everyone he knew, "I got you, don't worry, I GOT you!"

Yes my young friend, you truly have "Got us", now and forever.

But now Ramiro, "we got you!" and we won't let you down.

Godspeed everyone, thank you so very much, the journey has just begun.

Hello Everyone,

It is hard to believe but it has been over a month already since Ramiro's passing. For his family, these have surely been the most trying of times and will continue to be so for a lifetime.

Please continue to pray for them and whenever possible share your support for them in any way that you can.

As for Ramiro's Fund, just over a month has passed since its inception. The outpouring of support from all of you through your donations and shared thoughts and memories of Ramiro and well wishes for his family has been nothing short of inspirational and amazing.

We have all been very blessed to see how Ramiro impacted so many lives, young and old and from every aspect of life, through the words left here for all to read.

The powerful words you have shared reflects one of the most caring, genuine, selfless and passionate person so many knew and the shock of him leaving us so early in his life.

If there was ever a handbook to read about how to make a positive life long impact on those around us, your testimonies and messages about Ramiro would fill the pages of such a book.

Please take some time to read the messages, you will not regret the choice to do so.

Soon, I will meet with Ramiro's family to discuss the means by which your contributions will be disseminated to the kids and teams Ramiro was so visibly passionate about helping.

Your contributions will be carefully shared with a community that needs your help and done so in a manner that is consistent, timely and judiciously. This process will be led by his family, people they have chosen to help them administer the fund and of course Ramiro from above will be making sure we do exactly what he wanted done!

With that said, Ramiro's Go Fund Me will remain accessible for a just bit longer. Prior to closing the fund, I will send out one last update.

Thank you all so very much for everything you all have shared through your words and financial support. Words cannot aptly describe the immeasurable positive impact this will have on so many people for many years to come.

With much admiration, thanks and respect,

Sean Delanty

Everyone,
What an amazing 24 hours we are into Ramiro's new career as a fundraiser from Heaven! In just 4 hours we eclipsed our goal of $10,000 for Ramiro's cause and his family.

And so we moved the bar.

And less than 24 hours later we eclipsed the new goal of $25,000 and are on our way to $30,000! Simply amazing!

We are going to continue with this effort for the foreseeable future.

However, a very tough couple of days lay ahead as we come together as a community and say goodbye to Ramiro.

So keep spreading the word about this campaign and share your thoughts on the message board for all who visit this site to see and truly know how much Ramiro meant to thousand of people.

And please know how grateful and thankful I and those who helped get this going are for your incredible support and generosity. It will take some time but we will thank each and every one of you.

Thank you ALL! What an amazing effort this is and it is only 24 hours old!

Much love and respect to all of you, thank you so very much.
