Rally for Charlee
4.5 month old Charlee Katherine Santy is fighting for her life following a traumatic head injury on Thursday afternoon. She was rushed by ambulance from Fort Collins to Colorado Childrens Hospital in Aurora after spending the day with her child care provider. While details are still vague, we are rallying behind this sweet baby girl, praying for her recovery. Her brain bleeds and retinal hemorrhaging are under control and after 2 days in the pediatric intensive care unit she will be moved in to a recovery room and still has a long road ahead of her. Her parents, Samantha and Jeremy, are in the family therapy and education fields and have devoted their lives to helping children, but now need our help to get them through this impossible time. No parent should ever have to endure the heartbreak of watching their child suffer this way. As they work through healing within their own hearts and lives, I ask that anyone who is able to contribute financially to lighten that load for them. As details are released I will keep updates coming, but at his time there is an ongoing investigation which requires a great deal of privacy. Please keep this baby and her family in your daily prayers.

It's been 2 months since Charlee sustained her injury. She had her first appointment in the Non-accidental brain injury clinic (NABIC) at Children's this week and it was a lot of encouraging news. She is continuing to heal and is doing well in recovery in all areas including her eyes, her brain and her development overall. She got her first two teeth and is trying very hard to crawl!
We are continually having to monitor for seizures and will have to do so for the rest of her life but at this point there have been none.
On the legal side of things, we are really just playing the waiting game. Charges were filed in the end of August and we are now waiting to find out if the case will go to trial. Could be a looooong wait.
Sam and Jeremy are trying as best they can to make their new schedules work. It is difficult to balance and they have to sacrifice a lot of time together as husband and wife as well as time together as whole family but Charlee is loving getting to spend so much time with mom and dad. Close friends have been an incredible help to the family with helping out with Charlee as well. Thank you to the entire Santy village for the support, love, prayers and donations!
