My name is Lloyd and I’m 13 years old
On Saturday 8th December, my stepmum, Clarice, who was only 37, unfortunately passed peacefully away in her sleep due to a 5 month fight with terminal cancer. She had a very rare aggressive cancer of the lower intestine duodenum. She was so strong, and a laid back, gentle and funny character. She is also a mum to my 18 month old brother, Arthur.
She always did what was best for me, my two brothers and my dad. She always tried her best to keep us strong during her fight with the cancer. She never complained. She always seemed stronger than any of us.
My dad is now alone and looking after my little brother. He has had to give up work so I wanted to try and help , or ask for some help to give my step mum a funeral she deserves and take a bit of pressure off my dad.
I understand it’s nearly Christmas but it’s happened so much sooner than we thought, so really do appreciate every bit of donation. My dad is still trying to find the cost of everything as never knew it would be so much and not totally sure yet what funeral plans are but hopefully if I can get him some help he will know he can say a goodbye worthy of how much his wife and mum and step mum deserves. My little brother will be able to visit and we can always remind him how much his mummy loved him too.
Clarice was far from materialistic that’s for sure but she always made sure we were all happy and had everything we needed.
At first she was in a lot of pain, this happened since January, she went to eight different doctors before the 8th unfortunately discovered it. Clarice was a strong fighter and never gave up. The least we can all do is give her the funeral she deserves. Now that Arthur will grow up through the rest of nursery and primary school onwards without a mum we all want to make as many memories of her as we can for him so he knows what she looked like and what her qualities were like. We want the best for Clarice as she wanted the best for us, it’s the least we could really do for her.
