Raising $ for Chantel Darcy and Baby Huckle

Donation protected

Chantel Belanger is currently in the hospital in Courteney, BC recovering from the effects of and surgery for a ruptured appendix, an attack which happened travelling across the province from Fernie to Vancouver Island last weekend. Chantel now has a 2 inch abscess that needs to be drained and another four days left in the Courteney Hospital.

As you may or may not know, it has been a rocky road for her young family this past 5 months. Chantel and Darcy's son Huckle was born by emergency c-section in Cranbrook on Oct. 25th, 2018. During and after her 16 hour labour and c-section Chantel suffered from hyponatremia (low sodium). Huckle also had low sodium and he and Darcy were flown to NICU in Vancouver to receive immediate and the best possible care available in our province.

Due to her precarious condition, Chantel was unable to travel for several days but once her sodium had levelled back out was able to also fly to NICU and the family spent the next 8 days there. They are beyond grateful the care received there. However additional expenses resulted from this as the family needed to return to Vancouver January 8th for a follow up appointment for Huckle. (Thankfully it was found he was completely healthy and developing just fine.) Huckle also has another follow up appointment coming up soon on April 4th, hence their trip to the coast right now for that and to visit family.

Chantel is self-employed solely running her business Trillium Day Spa so is not on maternity leave... and when not working her business expenses don't stop. She worked very hard in the year leading up to Huckle's birth to save as much as possible but both his birth complications and her appendicitis were not planned for. Her partner Darcy also works incredibly hard as a chef for a great local restaurant but as we all know unfortunately it is difficult to make much as a chef no matter where you live in BC.

Due to the above reasons and more, Chantel and Darcy are overextended in their expenses right now. They thank you from the bottom of their hearts for anything you might be able to contribute to help get them back on their feet and to be able to support baby Huckle. They also thank those who have already contributed via etransfer or by organizing fundraising efforts, dropping off baby clothes etc. and a meal train. Chantel and Darcy are incredibly moved by all of the support they are receiving, thank you!
