Rain Water Harvest Tanks

Donation protected
As many of you know, I have been doing an internship with Kihefo Clinic in Kabale, Uganda. Last week my friend Atayo took me to see the household rain water harvest system tanks that Kihefo helps to build. These tanks cost $600 USD each, are very sustainable and require little maintenance. The tanks collect and filter rain water and hold 7,000 liters of water which will supply a family with 3 gallons of water a day throughout the dry season, which they use for cooking, drinking, bathing, and other household activities. In the community that we visited, there are currently 6 tanks and 120 families. There is one water source for the community that all of the families without water tanks use. This water source is at the bottom of a very large hill, and because 114 families share it, there is often a long wait to collect water. Because of the long lines, and the long walk back up the hill, children often must miss school to collect water for their families. My goal is to raise enough money to build 6 tanks which would double the amount of tanks currently in this community. Not only do these tanks provide people with water, but they also enable children to go to school. Please consider donating whatever you can, it will be greatly appreciated by Kihefo, community members, and myself.
