Rachael's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
This campaign is to help support a beloved daughter, mother, cousin, friend and advocate, Rachael Goss, as she recovers from a severe brain injury.

Last week Rachael experienced a sudden cardiac arrest due to low potassium levels while at a Wellness retreat in West Palm Beach, FL. Since then her body has been fighting a difficult battle - but against the odds, she is slowly making forward progress. She’s been opening her eyes and looking at her family in the hospital room, moving her arms and even squeezing her loved ones’ hands.

Her MRI results were the best we could hope for!  There were no signs of swelling or damage present. We are heartened by this positive news and feeling hopeful for recovery.

However, the path to recovery will be a lengthy one and unfortunately will come with a heavy financial burden for Rachael’s family. There will transportation costs to move her back to the Nyack, NY area where she will then need to undergo lengthy inpatient neurological rehabilitation.

Our goal is to help defray these incredibly high costs so that Rachael and her family can focus on the healing process… so she can return to her life of helping others and being an amazing mother to her beautiful daughter Georgia (who will turn 5 at the end of August).

Here is a note from her mother, Susan Goss:

“Our daughter Rachael recently suffered a serious brain injury while away from home. Her journey to recovery is going to be a challenging one. Her friends and family are committed to giving her their full presence, love and support throughout this long process. Both those who know her well and those whose lives she has touched even briefly have experienced first hand her incredible spirit of generosity and warmth.

Currently, she has just returned from a year of graduate study in Europe and has no insurance at this time. We are establishing this fund in order to assist in covering the costs associated with her condition, the transport back home and the restorative care necessary to bring her back to her vibrant and creative self. We want to thank all in advance for any financial support you may provide towards this end."

Please know that we appreciate every gift, no matter the size.  And gifts of love, support, prayers and outreach are just as well received as monetary gifts. If nothing else, please share this page so that others can see the story of our incredible Rachael.  That she’s come this far is a miracle - and we hope to share her continuing story of triumph as she fights to rewire her brain and return to her life.
