We are members from Andrew Hill High School's FIRST Robotics Team 5027, located in San Jose, California, and we have qualified to the FIRST Worlds Championship. We are a second year rookie team that would love to take this opportunity. However we lack the funding for lodging and transportation to St. Louis, Missouri.  As our school is located in a low-income neighborhood, we know that the students' families will not be able to afford the costs.

As our team is very new and fairly small, World Championships will help our team grow. Going to this event will also allow us to give our younger members something to aim for in future years and will open doors that will allow us to expand the program within our community and we hope you will support us along our journey!

Even if you cannot make a donation, please share this page with your friends and family!

Update 2

Thank you, thank you, thank you to our 300+ donors (and more thanks to those who saw our story through this campaign and news reports and donated to us through other means)!

We apologize for not updating the day before we left for St. Louis, but we've been at the World Championships since last Tuesday and we're back in San Jose, California. Due to all the support we've received, we were able to take 12 students and 6 mentors along with us (originally we were going to bring 6-8 students).

The event at St. Louis was such a new experience for all our students and a few of our mentors. We got to interact with teams from all around the world, watch some pretty exciting matches, learn about scholarship opportunities, and so much more. The team also made it to the quarter finals in our division at Champs (Newton)! Congratulations to the team for a great season and again, a huge thanks to all those who helped us along the way!

Special shoutouts to Team 2643 from Santa Teresa High School for being our mentor team for two years along with Team 254 from Bellarmine Prep and Team 1678 from Davis Senior High School for being on our alliance at the Silicon Valley Regionals!
Credits to Benjamin Lai from 2643!

We want to express our deepest gratitude to our 250+ donors! When we first got back from our regional competition, we weren't sure how we were going to obtain the money to go to Worlds and so we planned to take a very limited amount of people. Thanks to you guys, we're able to comfortably take a few more students and mentors along with us! Furthermore, all excess funds raised will go towards materials, tools, and other things that will support our robotics team for years to come (we especially need to get that workshop set up!).

Again, thank you for all the kind words, the donations, and the shares! We couldn't have done it without you!

I am happy to see this surpass the goal! I donated a few days ago before when it was approx only at $4k, and I come back just 3 days later & it's over the goal. Fantastic- hope you kids take all your club members and/or use the extra funds to support your robotics club next year!

When I took the first ever Design Tech class with Mr. Sarringhaus I could tell he was a knowledgeable and passionate teacher. He really encouraged me to pursue my goal of becoming an engineer and I'm glad he was able to inspire these students as he inspired me. I hope they kick butt and win this competition. Go Falcons! Love, Julie (Class of 2008)

This support is given in honor of my son, Matthew Gerdt, for his birthday. He enjoyed Lego robotics with FLL while in middle school and went on to study Computer Engineering at Cal Poly. We wish you the best of luck!
