 STERLING, VA
History of the Knights: The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, Fraternal Organization founded by Father McGivney. Since 1882, the Knights of Columbus (K of C) have been committed to the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism, and defense of the priesthood.  For more information visit www.kofc.org

History of the Knights at CTR:  For over 40 years, CTR was supported by Good Samaritan Council which was chartered out of St. Joseph’s church Herndon, VA in 1969.  As the Sterling community grew, so did the Council purchasing “The Barn” in the 70s and growing to support the parishes of St. Joes, CTR, and later St. Theresa’s in Ashburn.   That trend changed in late 2000’s with the sale of the Barn and the newly formed council at St. Theresa’s.

In June 2015, thanks to the willingness and acceptance of Pastor Cogan we established “Christ the Redeemer Council #16234” here at our own parish. Many long time CTR and Good Sam’s members have been involved in that transition.  To date, we have 34 charter members. We will be focused on the needs of the Council and how we can best support our Parish and our Priests, and are actively recruiting members for our Council’s efforts.

Knights Needing Your Support:
In order to be able to meet the needs of the parish and community, the Council needs funds to grow and to provide charitable services to the parish. As a new Council we are looking to raise funds for items such as:

-          Council Banner
-          US Flag and stand
-          Papel Flag and stand
-          Ceremonial kit
-          Pins and jewels
-          Funds for family and youth activities
-          Scholarships
-          Funds for various events such as father-daughter               dance, free throw contest, soccer challenge,                           Columbus Day Parade, Special
            Olympics, etc.
-          Replacement of stolen statue at CTR
-          Needs identified by the parish

These are some of the wishes that the Council has, and through the support of people like you, we will be able to provide support to our parish, our priests, and our many program efforts.
