Kokoda Charity Trek

Hi, my name is Celena Lyons and in June 2016 I will be walking the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea in order to raise funds for Mental Health Australia.
For those of you who don't know, Kokoda is a 9 day trek through 96km of rainforest in the mountains of PNG, and has a great deal of significance in the history of WW2. My goal is to raise $2000 by the time I complete the trek on the 4th of July.
MHA is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to create mentally healthy people and mentally healthy communities. I personally know how difficult it is to struggle with mental illness, and how it feels for depression and anxiety to make the smallest task seem like a mountain that would be impossible to try and climb.
That is why I am literally climbing mountains on behalf of those who feel like they can't, because I know how beneficial going out and being active can be. I know how difficult getting out of bed can be sometimes, but I feel that if I can do it, it will show other people with mental illnesses that they can do anything they set their minds to.
I feel that if I can promote exercise as well as raising money for this amazing foundation, I will be helping to work towards a mentally healthy future - not just for me, but for the people that your donations will help through MHA.
Your donations will assist in changing perceptions about mental illness and removing the stigma associated with it, as well as improving Mental Health Services in Australia and intiating reform.
All proceeds will be donated to Mental Health Australia, as I am paying all the travel and trek expenses out of my own pocket. I truly believe this is an incredible opportunity and I would be forever thankful to anyone who decides to support this cause.
