"Life is Precious" Lesley's family fund
Donation protected
Hello.... My name is Maryann Wiley and I am a friend of Cathy Makelki.
We have been friends for a very long time and Cathy is a very compassionate, caring person who is always willing to help others. She is also very active in Girl Guides of Canada and dedicates a lot of her time there.
Cathy, who is also from Regina, had messaged me that her daughter, Lesley was being airlifted from Kelowna to Vancouver and she needed to go there right away.
Lesley had gone into Emerg on the day of November 6, 2018 with a severe headache.
CT scan confirmed she had a brain bleed, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and they felt that it was an aneurysm so they decided to airlift her to Vancouver.
She quickly, during the night, became confused and drowsy so another CT confirmed that she had pressure on her brain from the spinal fluid being blocked from the bleed.
A drainage tube was inserted and Lesley went for brain surgery, craniotomy, on November 7, 2018.
This has unfortunately affected her speech and her memory and is still in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit in Vancouver.
Lesley is 31 years old and is a single parent of two beautiful young boys ages 8 and 4.
Cathy, Lelsey's mother, is also an amazing nurse, and has been by her side since she was flown into Vancouver with this unfortunate incident. This has been very tough on Cathy as well as the rest of the family.
Cathy has no friends or family in Vancouver and staying in hotels becomes very costly as well as transportation and food. She has also taken a leave from her work to be there for her daughter and her recovery.
Lesley would also have unpaid bills and rent coming up and no income to cover.
It will be a very lengthy recovery for her.
The boys are being taken care of by their father for now.
Any donation would be appreciated by Cathy, Lesley and their family to help with the costs of out of province expenses such as accommodations, food and transportation.
Once out of the hospital, physio, medications and rehab will be a lengthy process as well.
Thank you so very much for reaching into your pockets to help out this family.
"Life is so precious" .... it can all change in a minute....you're in our hearts and praying for a full recovery
