"HER BATTLE IS MINE" - Our Mother's Fight for Life

In late April of this year, our worst nightmare became our reality as our 67 year old mother, Jean, was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Her cancer has metastasized to her lymph nodes and unfortunately is inoperable and incurable. Pancreatic Cancer is known as a silent killer and hidden as in a majority of cases there are no significant signs or symptoms until it has reached stage 3 or 4. Our mother is the most gracious, humble, kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother, Mother in-law, sister, aunt, and a great friend to many.
Her team of doctors will be starting her on an aggressive chemotherapy starting next week, in hopes of improving her quality of life and giving her more time. She will have to make numerous trips to St. John's and is expected to stay for many nights at a time during her treatments. Travel, accommodations, as well as food during these stays will no doubt be costly.
Being on a low fixed income, my sister Melanie and I would like to try to alleviate some of the financial burden and the stress that comes with this devastating diagnosis off of Mom and Dad's shoulders.
Our mother has a fighting spirit and in our eyes she deserves nothing but the best in trying to overcoming this. We
have all been gathering our strength through the gracious support, prayers, and the love of our family and friends. We know that with this strength and God above, we can overcome anything.
