Quinton's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Alex, and I'm raising money on behalf of my 4-year-old brother-in-law, Quinton Trevino, and his incredibly loving, kind and currently overwhelmed parents, Ricardo and Leslie, and family. Quinton was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) on Friday, April 8, 2016. It was only days earlier that little Quinton was racing around in his toy Jeep, kicking soccer balls (against his very patient and loving parents' rules) off the living room furniture, terrorizing his older sister and telling elaborate tales of Hulk and Voltron going on top secret missions together. But it’s crazy how quickly things can change.

In just a few short days since then, Quinton now finds himself in a bed at Children’s Hospital Colorado. On Friday, a (very) fortunately timed doctor’s appointment turned into an ER visit, which turned into a confirmed diagnosis, which turned into an immediate series of overnight blood transfusions, a spinal tap, bone marrow extraction and his first dose of chemotherapy—all in less than 48 hours.

Incredibly, not only has Quinton been able to stay very positive given his circumstances, but he has had some incredible support from both his immediate and extended family and friends. Out of state family drove from across country in a heartbeat. While prognosis thus far is positive and Quinton has medical coverage, tests are still coming in and a successful course of treatment still means a minimum of THREE YEARS of treatment and a completely changed reality for him and his family. Even with his amazing drive ("We will win this battle!" he told his dad yesterday), things are going to be hard.

We are asking for your support for their family for several reasons:

1) Both Ricardo and Leslie are independently employed in construction, masonry and leather work, so every second, minute and hour with Quinton is a second, minute and hour they financially can't ever get back...and no parent should have to be away from their child during this time. At this time, neither have left Quinton's side since he was admitted on Friday and likely won't for potentially weeks.

2) Hospital meals for the family, toys to keep him entertained and other expenses that aren’t covered are adding up fast.

3) With the extensive treatment he will be getting over the course of the next three years, travel expenses are adding up already and will continue to do so.

For all those who know Leslie, Ricardo, Serenity and Quinton, you know what a loving family they are and they would help any of us in a heartbeat. On top of that, they were not only too preoccupied with being there for Quinton and handling everything at the hospital 24 hours a day to set up a fund, but hesitant to do so out of their caring, humble hearts.  Anything and everything helps. We sincerely can't thank you enough. Much love to all.

(Funds go directly to Ricardo and Leslie, not me of GoFundMe).
