Let's Help Freckles!

Meet Freckles! Or chances are, you already know her. She has had a long and tough journey and is in need of some help. Freckles was first found by the SATO Project under a bridge on the way to Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico, alone, hungry and frightened. She had been shot and lived with bullets lodged in her body - one in her spine. She would disappear for weeks at a time. Then suddenly she would appear again just when those trying to rescue her started to mourn her loss. After two years of attempts, she was finally rescued from her terrifying environment. She had several tumors on her stomach and most of her hair had fallen out due severe mange. The tumors were removed with clean margins. An oncologist gave her a clean bill of health and was sure she would have a long life. She slowly regained strength and put on weight and even grew some hair back.
Freckles was brought to New York and lived with us as our foster child for 6 months. She slowly blossomed with us and our two dogs, Disco and Derby. She learned to trust again. We watched her grow and become stronger and more confident. She finally found her forever home, which came by way of her new parents Amanda and Ed and Livi in Connecticut. They have been amazing parents! She had some ups and downs but quickly became the loving and dear girl she is today.
Sadly, in the last few weeks she has been falling a lot and not wanting to stand and finally not wanting to move at all, going potty where she lays. She took a trip to the Doggy Neurologist and it is believed that she has either slipped a disk or has spinal cord cancer. An MRI is needed in order to really figure out what is going on. She is going to have another neurological exam in New York at the very best veteninary hospital. And then the MRI. The exam and MRI are really expensive and so a little help is needed in order to help Freckles. So many of you, I know have followed her story and might want to help. After all she has been through and how far she has come, we do not want to give up on her. Any donation would be greatly appreciated in helping this brave and strong young girl get back on her feet, literally! Freckles has given so much light and hope to so many lives we want to give her as many more years as we possibly can! Our best guess at initilal expenses including the MRI are just under $2,000. Any donations received in excess will be used for whatever treatment is deemed appropriate for dear Freckles. And who knows. Maybe we’ll get very lucky and it is just a slipped disk and we can end our plea! We will also make a small donation to The SATO Project who helped first save Freckles and continues to save so many other animals in Puerto Rico. Thank you, all! And Freckles thanks you.
