U.S. Navy Veteran Needs Your Help

Donation protected
My nephew Matt is a Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years. He loved serving his country, but it came with a cost. He has PTSD, and was also diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder – which lead to his medical discharge.

Matt is a devoted father who has worked very hard to create a beautiful home for his 4 year old son.  He’s also a talented photographer whose photos show a unique and wonderful view of the world. And while adjusting to civilian life as well as treatment for his mental health has been a difficult road, he has made great strides! You can often find him on social media advocating for both veterans and individuals with mental health issues. His circumstances and those of his brothers & sisters in arms has inspired him to devote his life to helping other Veterans; to that end he is currently attending Nazareth College to get a degree in Social Work.

The problem is this: Matt’s VA benefits have been shorted for the last couple months (He has yet to find out why), and that has resulted in his car being repossessed. Being without a vehicle is not an option. His car was not only a source of income (He is a Lyft Driver), it was how he got to his appointments at the VA, picked up his son for the weekends, and traveled back and forth to classes.

He has not been in a good place because of this. He’s desperate to get back on his feet. So much so that he has started to try and sell off his possessions to save up for another car. Most have been treasured collectibles…but when he posted all of his photography gear for sale, it broke my heart and I knew I had to try and help him. Photography isn't just a hobby for Matt; it is a lifeline. It's how he copes when life gets to be "too much". It gives him an artistic outlet, and something to take his mind off of his struggles.

Matt doesn’t like asking for help, as it makes him feel like he’s letting people down. He feels guilty and unworthy of help, even though he would be the first to help others.

Any funds collected will go directly to this proud Veteran for the purchase of a reliable vehicle.

If you feel moved to help know that no amount is too small, and every cent is appreciated. I would also be grateful if you could help get the word out by sharing the link to Facebook or Twitter.
