Gord's Avastin Goal

My license plate ‘I’M HURT’ has taken on new meaning following my diagnosis of glioblastoma (GBM), a very aggressive form of brain cancer. After enduring the removal of the tumour, several weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, the cancer has spread to two new inoperable tumours. My doctor is proposing adding an infusion (Avastin) every two weeks in conjunction with my chemotherapy. The cost of the Avastin is $4200 per treatment, none of it covered by insurance as it is not an approved drug for GBM in Ontario. Roche (the company that produces the drug) has a patient assistance program that will cover 20%, reducing the cost to $3360 every two weeks.
I need your help in achieving my goal of raising $47,000. Avastin is not a cure, but it will help to prolong my life.
I want to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary with my wife and live to see my kids continue to develop into the incredible people they are.
