Farhan-His story

This is Farhan. Farhan is a beautiful 14 year old boy with big dreams. He wants to grow up and make a difference in the world. Farhan is an 8th Grade student at Glasgow Middle School, 4101 Fairfax Parkway Alexandria VA 22312 http://www.fcps.edu/GlasgowMS. A year ago, Farhan’s world turned upside down when he was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of soft tissue cancer. Farhan has been fighting for survival ever since. Farhan may be only 14 years old but he has seen and experienced more pain than a boy his age ever should. Recently, Farhan has been going through a lot of pain and was hospitalized at INOVA Fairfax Children Hospital in Virginia. Farhan’s parents are taking care of him full-time.


Synovial sarcoma
synovial sarcoma is a rare form of cancer which usually occurs near to the joints of the arm, neck or leg. Synovial sarcoma is a type of soft-tissue sarcoma. It is a rare cancer. Only about 1 to 3 individuals in a million people are diagnosed with this disease each year. It is one of the rarest forms of soft tissue cancer in the world.

Treatment
Farhan had an open-heart surgery to remove the synovial sarcoma tumor last year in Macrh and then went through 6 months of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer cells have spread to other parts of his body, specifically near his lungs.
Farhan is currently receiving radiation treatment. Because synovial sarcoma is rare, there is no consensus on just how much of a role chemotherapy plays in preventing it from coming back. The pain got worst and now he is going through radiation therapy, which is his only hope!



Not giving up
Farhan is not giving up and neither are we. We will absolutely not give up, but we can't do this without more help: there just isn't enough time.  We need your help, so please help us save Farhan.

Farhan’s father recently became unemployed and has been spending a lot on his treatment that left him relying on credit cards. Your contribution will not only help continue Farhan’s treatment but also help Farhan’s family pay for his medical bills and debts. Any kind of donation will be a blessing. About me
Farhan’s family are very dear friends of my family. When I first met Farhan I saw an ambitious and intelligent boy, wise beyond his years. With a bright smile that never left his face, Farhan was always ready to help others in need. His kindness and generosity shone through his eyes and big smile. Anyone who meets Farhan instantly takes a liking to him because of his bright and giving personality and character. Farhan and his family never hesitated in helping others, so today I want to help them. I want to feel I’m not powerless in the face of need and can help. I want to feel I’m changing someone’s life. I want Farhan and his family to know that they are not alone and that there are people who feel their pain and support them.

This campaign is supported by many, including but not limited to his wonderful teachers at Glasgow Middle School Alexandria Virginia, his caring class mates and  outstanding friends as well as their parents and families, his family friends living everywhere around the world and the Pukhtun community to name a few.
