Starting Over

The first day of October 2017 started off like any other. It was a beautiful day outside. The leaves were turning. There was a gentle breeze, and the sky was a bright blue with big, white fluffy clouds. That evening, the sky turned black as my sister watched her mobile home, and her life, go up in flames. 
My heart broke for her and my nephew. She has never had much, but she happy and grateful for what she did have. A little over ten years ago, she lost her husband unexpectedly to a fatal heart attack. It's been an uphill struggle for her ever since that day.
She has always worked full time to support her family, but she has lived through a series of tragic events that has made her life a constant struggle just to get through the day. Unfortunately, she had no insurance on her home or the contents. Yesterday, I watched her rummage through black rubble looking for any scraps of pictures or memories she could salvage. It was heartbreaking. 
The Red Cross has been wonderful to her in helping her to acquire her immediate needs of food and clothing. But she is at square one. Rock bottom. Rebuilding her life from the ruins of her home. She is, and has never been, a person to ask for help. She just does it herself. But she needs help. I need help to help her.
We are hoping to raise $3,000 to cover a few month's rent, and get her the things you don't often think about until you don't have them...towels, silverware, pots, beds, etc. This is our only option. Thank you for your kindness and generosity in this very trying time of her life.
