Family, a wedding, and no way there

Hello,
My name is Ashley, my boyfriend is Dustin and my son is Christian. Dustin moved to California from Maine in February of 2014 so we could be together. We were roommates and best friends for years prior to his big move and our big jump into love. When he moved here we began saving money so we could go to Maine for a few days in June of 2015 to see his mom and step-dad celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary and renew their wedding vows.
We had to spend the savings we had to pay for our monthly bills and now that savings is gone. Recently we have been having hard times. Dustin was injured at work and hurt his back. He has been on workman's comp for 6 months now. Christian and I have never met Dustin's family in person. Everyone has been looking forward to our trip out there to meet us and see their Dustin.
Unfortunately airline tickets across the country are expensive and there is no way we can afford it right now. Airline tickets alone are about $1600 for the 3 of us and another $75 each way for the train, plus a hotel room.
We have already told his family that we can't afford to come but we would try for another time. I would love to be able to surprise Dustin and his family (my future in-laws) with a trip home to see his parents renew their vows.
