Help My Brother Recover
Donation protected
Hi there,
This is a very difficult part of my life to talk about. Words have never been able to capture the spirit of my relationship with my older brother Eric. Through the years I have found it in music, and other creative outlets. This is a piece of the story.
•Eric was born intellectually disabled. My mother has cared for him for his entire life, and he was completely drug free until the age of thirty four. Now he has become a prisoner due to irresponsible off-label prescribing of antipsychotic drugs that have had terrible and dangerous long-term effects. Hopefully the video gives you an idea of how serious this matter is.
•I believe he was wrongfully prescribed some of the most powerful medications on the market. He does not have nor was he ever diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, epilepsy, major depression, etc...
•Eric is now in a wheelchair, has glaucoma, and is in generally terrible condition. What limited enjoyment in life he had has been taken away.
•My mom's life has been reduced to being a 24 hour nurse, with no breaks whatsoever. She's doing her absolute best to remain dedicated to my brother, and this dangerous situation. She is 70 years old, and this is jeopardizing her health.
•There's a long a road ahead to deal with this complicated nightmare.
This is only the first phase. I need to travel between NYC and Sarasota often. There are many expensive legal hurdles such as acquiring legal guardianship, powers of attorney, etc... Much research is required to find proper channels to assist my family. Eric and my mom need reliable help, and superior medical care, beyond what they receive from the state. Your donations will help make this possible.
Any amount is a huge help, and your positive energy is very much appreciated. I thank you sooooo much for taking the time to learn about my brother's story.
All the best,
~Steve
