Dor's Medical Fund

Short (tl;dr) version:
Two years ago, my boyfriend, Dor, had 3 surgeries removing his large intestine due to Ulcerative Colitis. He developed severe depression due to his loss of being able to live a normal life. Since he's disabled, he is unable to work to help with his expenses. After finding this site through an article I read online, for the first time in a long time, I found a glimpse of financial hope. We will appreciate any and all help we can receive. Thank you!

Full Story:
Approximately four years ago, I met and started dating my boyfriend, Dor. Two years ago, Dor was rushed to the hospital due to bleeding and an unknown pain in his instestines. After a few days in the hospital, he was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. The doctors spent the next few months treating him with several medicines and biological treatments in order to rid the intestines of the ulcers, to no success. As the last resort, my boyfriend had all 5 feet of his large intestine surgically removed. He had to live with an ileostomy bag for a few months following that, with which he grew immense body image insecurities. In May of 2014, Dor had his final surgery, reversing the ileostomy and forming a j-pouch with a portion of his small intestine. Despite the fact that he has good insurance, it doesn't cover all of his monthly medications he takes to aid with his recovery.

Today, Dor's recovery is incredibly and unusually slow. It's difficult for him to go places and he often has to forfeit a lot of daily routines and activities, which includes going to college and working a job. Since he is unable to live a normal life, he has developed severe depression, saying he feels useless and unable to help with his own expenses. He has several costly prescription medications he takes to alleviate some of the pain he still experiences throughout the day and when using the restroom, which is a minimum of several times a day. Ever since his first surgery, his body has been hypersensitive. Just holding his hand hurts him, and he says it feels like pins and needles poking into his skin. Despite that, I still take care of him every day. I work at a restaurant during the day and I would stay up with him in the hospital at night to make sure he got what he needed and was comfortable. I practically lived at the hospital with him during all of this. On our 3 year anniversary, my boyfriend held my hand and hugged me for the first time since before he got sick. He explained to me how grateful he is to have me by his side through this struggle, and without the support of his family and loved ones, he believes he wouldn't have been able to make it this far. I love this man with all of my heart and to have this illness happen to him, I couldn't imagine what he was going through, what he was thinking or feeling, physically and emotionally. All I know is, I am determined to do whatever it takes to make him healthy again. A part of that is covering the occasional prescriptions that are not covered by his insurance, to which I can only do so much as a struggling college student with my own medical bills. I came across this site through an article I read online. For the first time in a long time, I found a glimpse of financial hope. The funds obtained through this donation page will be transferred to a savings account in Dor's name for the purpose of meeting the deductible and any other medical costs. We will appreciate any and all help we can receive. Thank you!
