A Break for Rose

Rose is my sister who taught me how to read when I first started going to school, handwashed my school uniform everyday when I got home from school, taught me how to make dolls, knit, cook, and she took care of me and my siblings when our mother was working. She is a friend, a sister, and like a mother to me.
My sister has had a tough life, and it is hard to put it all down in writing. She is a single mother of four. She lost her husband,  who was their sole breadwinner, seven years ago. Rose has had to take care of her children and pay for their school fees since then. Her two oldest daughters are in university. Her son is going to high school this year. Her youngest is in 2nd grade.
She runs a small business selling food. Her business is not lucrative, but she makes it work. I personally don't know how she does it, but somehow she manages.
Rose works every day of the week from 5am to 10pm. She never takes a break, she never buys herself anything. All she cares about is that her kids go to school and through that, they can have a better life than what she has had.
I admire my sister for her strength. I have tried the best way I can to help make her life easier, but there is only so much I can do.
Rose never asks for anything, she works really hard to make ends meet. And I hope through kindness, we can help ease her struggles. I'm hoping that we can give her a gift of $1,000 to make this year easier. I believe everyone of us needs a break sometimes. And there are people out there who deserve a break more than you or I. Rose is one of those people.
She doesn't know I'm doing this, and I know she would say , "please don't worry about me, I will be fine" if she knew. But I hope me and others can do something nice for her this year. She deserves a break. She might not be rich , but she defines what it means to be a strong, successful woman. She is inspiring, and an everyday hero.
