Snakes! Either you love them or you fear them. Regardless, for people living in and visiting Panama, it is essential to be able to identify them.
To date there is no readily available, complete field guide for the snakes of Panama. Team Snake Panama is going to change this!
The Field Guide to the Snakes of Panama, geared towards the general public and students, but also an important tool for the professional herpetologist, will include:
*Bilingual descriptions of each species
*Distribution ranges and maps by Patty Ruback
*Natural history including habitat, activity periods, diet, and reproduction
*Colored photographs
*Line drawings of important features by Shannon Bowley
*Easy-to-use keys
*Tips on co-existing with snakes and emergency treatment procedures.
This is a project in the works. We are seeking funding so we can devote considerable time to finishing the project this year (publishing in late 2015 or early 2016).
