As many of you know, our little café was broken into on Saturday night and some expensive equipment was stolen. Above is a York Press article about the incident.
In all we lost an iPad, the till system the iPad was docked into, the money from our till drawer, a PS2 and an unusual amount of chocolate.
We also need to deal with the damage done to our door...
On Monday a concerned customer contacted us to say this was found
in their back garden...
That was our iPad - our POS stand has a special locking mechanism to keep the iPad secure. This was clearly something the thieves could not figure out and just opted to brutishly yank it out of the stand - thus causing irreparable and pointless damage.
This ordeal has dealt a blow to our young business both financially and personally. We thought long and hard before taking the decision to launch a gofundme, especially as some of you are still waiting on kickstarter rewards (which will be sent out soon).
We have been unlucky in that everything that was supposed to help us get back on our feet after the robbery has fallen through.
Our target is a base estimation of merely replacing our vital till system and nothing more.
The overall damage of this theft is greater than this but we feel this amount would give us the boost we need to move forward. If even just 80 of our 1800 Facebook followers could give the base donation of £5 we can replace our till system and try to put this awful incident behind us. If you show your donation confirmation to us on your next visit we'll give you either a free hour gaming pass or a free drink!
We would like to thank North Yorkshire Police for all their help in dealing with this matter, and we'd also like to thank our customers for being so supportive these past few days – You’re all amazing!
