Ecuador's Earthquake Victims
The earthquake that shook Ecuador's northwestern coast left until now 420 deaths confirmed, unfortunately the number keeps increasing and thousands are injured. The country is currently in state of emergency.
People have lost family members and friends, homes have been destroyed, people are sleeping in the middle of the street, food is running out and water its not safe to drink. Many help campaigns are being done in the country to collect, medicines, bottled water, mattresses, bedcovers, non-perishable foods, clothes, flashlights etc
Some poor areas of the country have suffered the most damages, there is no electricity, phone or water in those areas currently.
As an Ecuadorian living abroad I feel the need and I want to help in some way to all the victims. I created this fund me, to try to collect money from all Ecuadorians abroad and people that want to help those in need. 1 $, 10$, 20$ EVERYTHING HELPS!!! I hope this works and I can send this money home to buy all those things mentioned above to be delivered to those in need.
Thank You for your help,
Maria Cecilia Valdano
Funds Raised will be properly destined to the following depending in the needs at the moment and how people that are helping back in Ecuador and professionals who know a lot about the situation now think will be best :
-SAVING LIVES program led by Dr. Camilo Chiquito with the assistance of International Medical Corps,
and Dr. Fuller expert in natural disasters who was present in Indonesia Tsunami and Haiti Eartquake.
- FOOD BANK OF GUAYAQUIL (DIAKONIA).
-Reconstruction of homes for those who lost it all.
From the GoFundMe team I was requested to post the following information:
My name: Maria Cecilia Valdano
From: Ecuadorian, Currently living abroad.
I would first like to thank you all for contributing for such a good cause. Words cannot describe the smiles and the comfort you have given to the affected families. Before closing the account I would like to show you what was done with your money.
All the money was used to rebuild the houses and the lives of the people affected by the earthquake. We tried to ensure that all that was done with the money will last then not only for a short period of time and during the recovery from the earthquake but for several years after the catastrophe. Everything was planned and thought for long-term durability.
After the wire transfer fees and the gofoundme fees what was left to use were 27,783.48. The money was wired out from Gofoundme to Diakonia Food Bank in Ecuador with the help of their partner in the USA, The Global Food Banking Network.
Diakonia after receiving the money kept 10,215.24, with this money they helped finish building, buying utensils for public kitchens and providing food were people could go eat. Pictures of the two different kitchens are posted next. In addition, 10,215.24 were given to Foundation Sanchez Aguilar that in hand with Saving Ecuador help the communities medical assistance and establishments. A letter from them is attached.
Finally, 7, 353.00 were given to a group of people that were continually helping the affected people since the day of the earthquake. This people built approximately 15 refugee houses (pictures with families attached) and tricycles for workers that used to sell food but the tricycles were damaged, with this tricycles they will be able to continue working and provide to their families.
Thank you for your generosity.
Ecuador and earthquake victims thank you
We are now together with all Ecuadorians at Purdue University collecting more funds to help the victims.
We are working together with 7 more universities to create funds that will go to International Medical Corp ( http://internationalmedicalcorp.org/helpecuador) they will be supporting an Ecuadorian organization called "Salvemos Vidas· ( www.savingecuador.com).
They already have Doctor Fuller and his team working in the most affected areas in order to assist the people that needs help in an urgent manner. Here is the link for you to be able to check for updates:
In adittion as mentioned in the description another part of the funds will go to Hogar the Cristo, to re-build those homes that were lost and to give victims who lost it all a home. I will update you with everything we do and asure you once again, that your money will be used in the best way posible to help the victims.
I attach pictures of Purdue Students and the work they did today on campus.
Hi, Mr Julian Kodrin: Even if I dont find the point on questioning this campaing I want to kindly, let you know that this acount and campaign are totally legitimate and myself MARIA CECILIA VALDANO, respond for this money and asure you that it will be destined in the best way posible for Ecuadors Earthquake Victims . You can see on the description and ask any of the organizations listed there, they are already waiting and notified that this money raised will go to them. The fact that I have changed the GOAL of this campaign to 40K its just because I see solidarity and kindness in people. Through this campaign my only goal is to HELP those who need it in my country. EVERY dollar counts at this moment and if I see the possibility that I can raise the goal to 100k because people keep donating be sure that I will. This is ALL FOR MY COUNTRY AND ITS VICTIMS. Thank You and I hope this clarify you doubts.
Hi, the funds are going to the food bank of guayaquil the link of their organization is on the campaign description. In adittion after the funds are trasfered to them I will provide pictures of the receipts of all the food and supplies for the victims bought with this money.
Folks. I'm down in Ecuador. In the first two to five days of after a catastrophic event donations and help flow quick and the bottleneck is channelling such effectively and prioritizing needs. The problem arises after 3 to 4 week when help "relaxes". The area of destruction is very spread out. Includes cities from 300 to 100k pop. But also and more difficult to reach are small communities bring isolated still. The number of orphans are increasing as well as the number of families left with no home. Remember insofar there are still no water nor electricity especially in small villages. The point is that resources are going to be needed as badly as now but equally important in the next few weeks to start rebuilding some infrastructure or still keep aid on its way. I deem thoughtful to hold on to such funds while they keep coming. I'm part of the coordination team that has Dr Fuller already on the ground. He's an specialist in emergencies and crisis who's been in Thailand tsunami aid efforts as well as Haiti. Dr Camilo Chiquito foundation is coordinating this team and is one of the recipients of this effort of donations for which they are Heartfelt appreciated it. Also the Food Bank organization in guayaquil is a recipient of this effort. The private sector and society as a whole initiative to organize and help ASAP has been crucial since the government has taken understandably more time to organize and channel help given the broader area and issues it had to cover. Please don't hesitate should you need more information to ask. Regards
The organizations that will get the money are listed above: 1. International Medical Cops led by Dr Rober Fuller 2. Hogar de Cristo - will build emerging houses to replace those that were hit by the earthquake (http://hogardecristo.org.ec/) 3. Food Bank of Guayaquil
I see this guy is changing the goal often it started n at 20k then changed it to 30k and now its 40k does it look as a legitime campaign?
Hi, are you already donating the funds that you have received? I hope you have. The sooner the better!
