My name is Joy Uwanziga, and here is my story:
When I was young, I got to know about a little three-year-old girl who was suffering from a disease. The little girl needed blood from her five-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease. The boy had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness and was the only hope for his sister.
The doctor explained the situation to the little brother, and asked if the boy would be willing to give his blood to his sister. He hesitated only for a moment before he took a deep breath and said “Yes, I will do it if it will save my sister.”
As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the nurse beside him and asked with a trembling voice, “When will I start to die?”
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.
My love for children and the dream of doing something for children developed ever since. Many of us feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. I see things that always remind me of why it's important that we play our part in the fight for every childhood. While writing has always been a passion of mine, I had an idea of writing a book that can help parents raising children incredibly. The book is a product of my extensive research and my personal experience as a mother. It serves its purpose well to all the parents and to the parents-to-be whom we call, ‘millennials.’ Being a parent and raising our angels are so sweet to think, yet difficult to fulfill. My work allows us to learn from the experts and equip ourselves with the scenarios that can be harrowing for new parents or to the ones who need further learning support.
I managed to do all that was needed to be done, and the book is about to be published, and its launch is planned in November 2018. The book is written in English, but my goal is to let the book get translated in as many languages as possible, (or at least 6 languages), and help many parents from different cultures and languages get to know those incredible ways of parenting.
The book deals with important aspects of parenting, offering creative answers for many of the most common parental dilemmas and mistakes. It incorporates modern and traditional methods that serve its purpose to maintain a parent-children harmony.
From infancy to being a toddler, it includes scientific explanation and psychological understanding on the children’s growth supporting their physical and emotional necessities. It emphasizes to teach children to do the right thing through proper discipline which plays a crucial role of their character.
It further includes practical and useful key points for the parents as their children become teens. It involves their behavior, self-esteem, physical changes, appearance, sexuality, privacy and their overall wellbeing. Moreover, it accentuates the current social issues that every parent and guardian should be aware of, such as bullying. As the teens reach puberty to the point of intimacy, courtship and marriage. This book strengthens the family bond and teaches them to pass on a positive familial connection down to the next generation.
It also offers solutions on how to deal with stressful times in the best possible means and how to create a positive environment for the entire family.
