Finley’s Fight

Donation protected
Baby Finley Rose was born on 8/11/19, 4 weeks early. She was born with a congenital heart defect and needed surgery shortly after delivery. She had her first open heart surgery at 5 days old. Her first surgery took about 6 hours and was considered a success. She did great post operatively and things seemed to be going so well that she was going to be discharged home only 12 days later. Unfortunately, her echocardiogram showed an aneurysm and at 17 days old she had to have a second open heart surgery. This surgery was much more difficult and took 8 hours to repair the aneurysm. Healing this second time around hasn’t gone so well. While recovering from the second surgery it was determined that her left ventricle was damaged and very weak and would most likely not improve on its own. She was added to the heart transplant list on 9/20/19. She will not survive without a transplant.

Finley will remain hospitalized indefinitely until she can receive her heart transplant. Currently she is still in cardiac ICU, sedated and on medications for her blood pressure and heart. She is now 6 weeks old and mom has been able to hold her sweet baby girl less than 10 times. Mom (Abby) and Dad (Mike) are both commuting many times a week from their home 40 miles from the hospital and both have been off work to be by her side through this adventure.

All funds received will be used for medical and living expenses, gas for daily commutes, and other bills since neither parent is currently working. Abby and Mike have been some of my closest friends and are really what we call “chosen family.” Abby was with me when I had my first baby while my husband was deployed and her and her family have all been amazingly supportive and welcoming to my family. We have spent many holidays together and look forward to many more and pray that Finley can get her “new to her heart” and be home soon.

Any little bit would help and from the bottoms of our whole hearts we thank you in advance for your help.

“She was powerful, not because she wasn’t’ scared, but because she went on so strongly, despite the fear.” – Atticus
