I am desperately trying to raise living expenses and tuition for college. I have been accepted to BCIT in Burnaby for the Medical Laboratory Science program, and I am super excited to be attending school and changing my life.

I come from a good home that instilled the best of values into their children, but I was lost a few years ago and made some bad life decisions. I found myself wasting away with no hope or ambition for a better future. I prefer to refer to this period of my life as a little detour. I learned many valuable lessons that helped to change my outlook on life. I bounced back and have been working toward my dreams since December 23, 2014. I spent a year and a half upgrading high school courses at Okanagan College and succeeded with top marks in my class. I completed English 11/12, Math 10-12, Biology 11/12, Chemistry 11/12, and Physics 11/12 all with final grades in the 90's. While completing these courses, I discovered that there is nothing in this world I love more than learning; I would like nothing more than to have the opportunity to continue my education. My big dream is to one day work in a research lab with viruses or DNA, and hopefully have a hand in helping to change the world for the better. I truly believe I have the smarts and the determination to succeed.

The reason I am here asking you for your help now is because I do not have the money to chase my dream. I have been working all summer as a housekeeper and saving every dime I make, but I've only managed to save roughly $5000. I have applied for a student loan, but I have a slight debt owing of a couple thousand and will most likely be turned down. The program at BCIT is 2 and a half years long. That means I will need a minimum amount of $21 000 for rent and $6 000 for food and other personal items. Tuition for the full program is just over $15 000. There are many small hidden fees that keep piling up as well. Plus, I do not know the costs of books at this time.

Tuition is due November 4th of this year, and my start date for classes is January 3rd, 2018. Anything, no matter how big or small, that you are able to spare towards my cause is so incredibly appreciated. This will change my life in ways that I don't even fully understand yet. Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my story.
