No one can prepare you for the devastation of a house fire. You think it can never happen to you. Yet in just minutes, your life can be irrevocably changed.
On January 7, 2016 my neighbour's (and friends) survived such a fire that tore through their townhouse leaving nothing but ash and smoke behind. All personal belongings and memories gone, beloved family pets gone and the place they called home for safe shelter and warmth no longer recognizable.
Despite the tragedy, a ray of sunlight - no one perished. A community of neighbours coming together to provide support and love in little ways. An amazing team of dedicated professionals (Toronto Fire Service) who were able to contain the fire to only a single unit. To them and to all the First Responders (Toronto Police Service, EMS ) we thank you for all the good you do.
