Have you ever met someone and knew, within the first 30 seconds, that that person would have a huge impact on your life? Well, I have. His name is AJ Murray. Our story begins oddly enough without AJ.
My husband Jorge and I were watching a documentary “Becoming Bulletproof” an amazing piece about a Zeno Mountain Farms and the making of their film Bulletproof”. AJ was one of the featured actors in the story. Jorge and I both felt very strongly that we needed to have him tell his story onboard the Buddy Cruise. Buddy Cruise, a nonprofit charity, hosts an annual conference on board a cruise ship for individuals with unique needs, their families and friends. AJ and I started talking and emailing shortly after I saw the film. He was excited and honored to be selected as the Inspire Ambassador for Buddy Cruise.
A year later, in 2016, we finally met face to face, 30 seconds later I knew I had a friend for life & a new member of not only the Buddy Cruise family but the Arnoldson family as well.
And, that is why I am so passionate about this go fund me. AJ, as we all do, has his ups and downs…his good days and his bad. You see… AJ has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. Despite his physical limitations or complex medical needs he is the most positive person I have ever met. Always a smile, always determined to follow his dreams of becoming an actor , always seeking for independence.
Aj is not employed. His mom is his sole caregiver helping him to auditions to get that big break. He has been in Drunk History, Speechless, and other films. AJ recently has acquired his first vehicle. It is an accessible van…BUT it does not have the required adaptive equipment to make it ADA compliant. Once it is compliant he will have more opportunities to travel and to seek out employment. You can see in the photos that he is NOT safely strapped in. This is extremely dangerous. I am so concerned for his safety …hence the reason for this go fund me.
