Protect LGBTQ+ Health at Oriel Medicine

Donation protected
For every cause that is near and dear to your heart, there are a dozen worthy GoFundMe campaigns. This one is about saving the lives of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community through compassionate healthcare.

Driven by the need for LGBTQ+ specific medical services, Dr. Kathy Oriel opened her own practice in October 2017. She and her nurse, Melisa Arndt, turned an old Taco Bell on the west side of Madison, WI into a safe space for patients to receive both primary care and specialized treatment including addiction medicine.

Last year's flooding in Madison has left Dr. Oriel and her team in urgent need of an actual, physical space. General start-up costs aside, the devastating loss of her office could potentially leave hundreds of at-risk individuals without the medical care they deserve.

All funds collected will go directly to rebuilding Oriel Medicine.

If you are able to help in any other way - advocacy, networking, or volunteering your time, reach out to me via email.

Payment processors charge 2.9% + .30 of each donation made here and while we understand the need for fees, if you'd like to go another route: PayPal.me/laymancandice

On a personal note, Dr. Kathy Oriel and Melisa Arndt are incredible human beings. Over the past year, they've fought selflessly and tirelessly for the LGBTQ+ community by leaving well established careers at the University of Wisconsin to ensure vulnerable individuals are no longer discriminated against in our healthcare system. They've saved the lives of people I love. But their journey shouldn't end here; there are thousands of more lives of people you love who need Oriel Medicine.
