Protect Hart Lane Neighborhood Farm

Since 2013, we have been working to transform a neglected overgrown set of abandoned lots in Philadelphia into a neighborhood garden that can help to heal the years of trauma our neighborhood has endured.

We have created a garden accessible to neighbors and anyone who wants to garden with us. We have had over 45 gardeners with us this season alone!



Since 2015, we have grown and distributed fruits and vegetables to those nearby, most of whom live in deep poverty and with limited access to nearby healthy food.



We are gardening in the midst of the largest heroin market on the East Coast and working to serve as a beacon of hope amidst an epidemic that killed 1,200 people in our city just last year.




But the Hart Lane Farm is in danger.



The long neglected lots that our community has reclaimed are now going up for sale in a public auction and are increasingly being sought after by outside developers and speculators.



We have purchased 2 of the garden lots to preserve the space already, but there are 7 more to be purchased, 3 of which will be up for sale this summer.


To keep this healing space protected, we need your help.



Every dollar donated will go to the purchase and preservation of the lots within the garden. We see urban farming as a healing way to build community and strengthen ourselves, the Earth and our neighborhoods.

Our flagship gardener, Jess, has been gardening in the neighborhood for 10 years and has a degree in horticultural therapy from Kansas State Univ. Her expertise has been guiding the Farm and the partnerships that we make through it.
