Project Pirtle: A Rare Cancer Fight

Hi folks! This request for funds is for our Youth Minister, Mr. Nathan Pirtle!

Six weeks ago he found out he had a tumor on his hip. Since that time, he has seen multiple doctors, been told to “wait a week”, “...two weeks”, “you need to go somewhere else”, “it’s benign, but we need to do a biopsy”, “you need to have surgery”, and finally, “you have Ewing’s Sarcoma”.
He hasn’t been able to walk or put any weight on his hip in over a month and now the doctors tell him it could possibly be a year before he can again. They are awaiting treatment plans which could include chemotherapy, radiation, total hip replacement, etc. There are still a lot of unanswered questions and many multiple-hour trips to treatment facilities.
And through it all, Nathan and his wife, Lauren, have been the biblical example of what we are called to do when we face trials.
Nathan wrote, “I hope you are all ready to see God do some amazing things! I get goosebumps thinking about it. I cannot tell you how much of a blessing it is to feel so sure and confident that in this trial, God’s Will and greater purpose be fulfilled! I love it! I’m excited about it and I am completely, 100% okay with it! I am fully trusting and resting in the arms of God regardless of what happens to me! My next step is to get treatment approved closer to home, family, and friends. I am attempting to appeal insurance and get them to approve care at Vanderbilt. I need prayers that this will work out. It is now time to fight. God will be glorified in this. We got this. Love you all!”

Nathan posted this image above on his Facebook page and it made such an impact on me. You see, Nathan and his family came to work with us a few months before a tragedy struck our community. Everyone was hurting and questioning, especially our youth, and he rallied those kids together and helped them to see how they could draw closer to God and bring others to God through this tragedy. It’s been such a blessing to see God’s Hands in Nathan’s work and now it’s our turn to be God’s Hands in Nathan’s fight against cancer!
