Project Mending Maria
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My good friend, Hannah Schleibinger, and I are doing a community problem solving project for future problem solving in hopes to make it to Internationals in June! Our project is called Mending Maria, as we will be raising funds to ship donated supplies to a high school in Aibonito, Puerto Rico from Illinois. We have very little time and funding to not only ship all of our donations, but to cover the $250 entry fee.
Even 11 months after Hurricane Maria hit, the damage is still extremely terrible. Destroying homes, communities, and lives, Hurricane Maria was the worst storm to hit the Atlantic in nearly 80 years. The category 4 hurricane cost almost $90 million in damage, killing nearly 4,500 people. We hope by raising money and school supplies, we will begin to help Puerto Rico communities get back to the lives they once had.
The donations that you give will cover:
- $250 entry fee
- Money to ship pallets of school supplies to Puerto Rico
- Purchase additional supplies according to their needs
NONE of this donated money will be going to us. The money is strictly benefiting Aibonito high school and the $250 competition entry fee.
Thank you so much for supporting the two of us during the process and if you have any questions, please contact us @ProjectMendingMaria on Instagram or [email redacted] .
