Rescuing Kids From The Slums Of Haiti

Project 418
is a solution driven movement headquartered in Southeast Michigan, working to create positive and sustainable change for orphans in Haiti.

In the past 18 months we have established two orphanages in Haiti. Hope Center 1 in Cíte Soleil & Hope Center 2 in Delmas 95.

This has been made possible by generous donors and our full time staff of 20 haitian employees that are dedicated to the rescue, education, and care of nearly 70 children. These loving homes are filled with children 4-14 years of age that have been rescued from the streets of some of the most impovershed slums (Cíti Soleil) in the Western Hemisphere.

In addition to providing basic needs and education, we have also begun to offer vocational training for the children living in the two Hope Centers.

Having a work related vocation in Haiti is crucial.
However, the priveledge of an education does not come easy.

Hope Center 1 is currently teaching carpentry with the objective of offering multiple avenues such as, masonry, electrical, plumbing, and painting over the next year.

With the funds raised by this GofundMe campaign we will be:

1. Adding an arts program for the kids.

Utilizing a combination of local Haitian artists and musicians, along with guidance and support from members of The Ragbirds and other U.S. based musicians, we plan to develop a music and arts school that teaches a balance of marketable arts skills and creative expression. The school will be teaching the children about the heritage and appreciation of Haitian and Western music. Instrumental training, and the skills to make instruments that can be sold in the markets of Haiti as well as directly and fairly purchased to be sold in the U.S. as a means to help support the Hope Centers regular financial needs will also be taught.

2. March 2017 Project 418 Team Trip

We will travel to Haiti for seven days in order to work on infrastructure projects at both Hope Centers.

3. The Ragbirds

Michigan based folk-world roots band The Ragbirds will be joining us in March and will present a series of free concerts in and around the areas located near the two Hope Centers.

4. Free music and arts workshops

The Ragbirds will be offering free music and arts workshops during the week.

5. The Ragbirds “Live in Haiti” album

We will also be multitrack recording all of the shows for future release as a “Live in Haiti” album, with all profits directly benefiting Project 418’s efforts.

6. Project 418 Documentary

2188 Studio will filming the entire trip for future release of a documentary loosely titled “True-Real-Change” which we will use to spread awareness of Project 418’s work in Haiti.

2188 Studio , run by Ben and Lucas Daniels, sons of well known actor, producer, playwright and Michigan native Jeff Daniels.

With your help to accomplish these things, our hope is that we will have the tools needed for creating awareness that inspires others to join us in this Solutionary Alliance. This will enable us to enrich and sustain our two Hope Centers so that they can have an impact on Haiti from the inside out. Essentially, raising up strong leaders, who are proud of their community, country, and empowered to make a difference in the future of Haiti at large.

Thank you for your support!

We’re so grateful for you and the opportunity to be a part of making True - Real - Change in the lives of these children.
