My name is Lindsay and I'm reaching out to you all from Northeast Georgia in hopes of raising funds and obtaining prayer for my dear friends of nearly 20 years, Warren and Leanne Masten. Their niece, Addi, whom they're raising, has been diagnosed with cancer. The funds we raise will be used to alleviate any uncovered medical expenses,  travel expenses, and help supplement the income the Mastens will not receive due to missing work being with Addi in the hospital.

Addi is a beautiful, happy 2-year old girl who was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a rare cancer often diagnosed first in the adrenal glands atop the kidneys).  Addi was rushed to the ER after her aunt and uncle (Leanne & Warren Masten) became concerned that she was experiencing pain in her side.  While at Scottish Rite, doctors found a mass the size of an apple on one of Addi's kidneys, along with another spot on one of her lungs.  It has been determined that Addi has neuroblastoma and will need chemo treatments to shrink the tumor before it can be removed.  Addi's family is currently awaiting a full-body scan that will determine if the cancer has metastasized to other regions of her body.

Medical Professionals haven't provided the family with a timeline of how long she will be in the hospital.  Leanne has used all of her paid time off and Warren is working as many shifts as possible to make up for this.  Addi needs her LaLa and WaWa with her, so this campaign will help to relieve some of burden of them missing work to be with Addi.

Any amount you are willing to donate is appreciated and beneficial.  Let's come together in prayer and support of Addi and her family during this trying time!

From Leanne:

Addi has had a rough couple of days. She has not felt too good and has been one cranky two year old but that is ok....she is entitled! We were able to get her out of the room today for a stroll through the garden and to meet a new friend who is also fighting cancer....Jaylen!

I did not want to tell of all the events of Friday because I did not want to distract from the good news of her having NO EVIDENCE of DISEASE. On Friday Addi had the MIBG scan and while she was sedated she also had a bone marrow aspiration for biopsy. She was also supposed to get the drain tube hole in her side sewn up while she was sedated but the doctor doing the procedure did not feel she was ready for that with the amount of drainage coming out and into the temporary bag that had been attached to her side after the drain tube was removed from her side. So the doctor ended up putting in ANOTHER drain tube in her side. There was some discrepancy from the doctor that did this procedure and the Hepatology team that she needed this bag SO they have tried keeping the bag clamped off to see if Addi's body would naturally absorb all of the fluid. Well, it hasn't and she has been in a good bit of pain from the procedures and from the fluid building up. I finally insisted that the drain be opened so she would be more comfortable and a lot of fluid drained. What this means is the liver is not absorbing the fluid like it is supposed to and could delay her going home. The doctor said it is possible they will let her go home with the drain but we will not know until Monday. It is a fine balance of fluid intake and output and one that they really have to monitor closely.

We have been praising God after finding out Addi has no evidence of disease. Neuroblastoma is a BEAST and because she is stage 4 high risk, she has a 60-80% reoccurrence rate so it is crucial to keep her cancer from returning and to be very diligent in her maintenance treatment to keep it under control and continue to be free from disease. The doctor that is rounding this weekend and next week is one of Addi's doctors and specializes in Neuroblastoma so he really knows his stuff. He said that next week we will meet with Dr. George (her regular oncology doctor) and discuss her plan of treatment going forward. Their goal for Addi was to be cancer free and in remission when she went into stem cell transplant and why she had to do more chemo and immunotherapy. So now that she is cancer free and where she should be in her treatment plan, we can now discuss her maintenance treatment to permanently kill this cancer and keep her in remission for LIFE! So although she is cancer free, her journey does not end there. Now we must keep her CANCER FREE!

The plan BEFORE liver failure was for her to be cancer free at the end of her 5 cycles of chemo and then to go into stem cell transplant and have 2 transplants. Then she would have radiation and then immunotherapy for 6 months. Not sure exactly what her plan will look like now but Dr. Cash said it could be oral chemo until her body is strong enough and her liver has healed enough to endure stem cell transplant. She would be watched very closely to ensure she did not go into liver failure again. Then continue with radiation and immunotherapy. Her entire team of doctors will discuss this the beginning of next week and will have a plan for us on Wednesday at her appointment IF she is home and can go to this appointment. It is so important to keep her cancer free because the return of Neuroblastoma usually is even more aggressive than at initial diagnosis. WE CLAIM CANCER FREE for life and that in about 8-12 months, cancer will be a thing of the past and little Addi can continue life as a care-free, cancer free little girl!

PLEASE continue to pray for Addi and that this liver will heal completely and that she will remain cancer free so she can live the life God intends for her to live. Right now she is so uncomfortable and has a ways to go before she is 100% but I feel confident when we can finally get her home that she will begin to eat and walk. Her little legs are so tiny and she has lost so much weight. We are so blessed with Addi's life and through this journey with cancer God has shown himself to be faithful and merciful over and over. There are days that I have felt God has not heard our cries and that He is so far away and then He so gently shows me that He is near by a simple gesture of love from a stranger, an encouraging word from a friend, a feeling of peace after a rough day, a sweet smile from Addi or a bible verse He lays on my heart to read. THEN he shows that miracles do still happen by saving her life not once but several times after going through liver failure and then by the great news of her being cancer free! I am in awe of God and all He continues to do through Addi's journey with cancer. Even through the hard days, we find Joy and happiness. We CHOOSE to find joy and when you choose joy even though the circumstances are not very joyful, you can't help but find PEACE!

Last day of this t-shirt campaign....shirts will be shipped on 4/1/19.

Much love, joy and happiness to you all~~LaLa

A Real Miracle!

Addi had her body scan, bone marrow aspiration, and biopsy Friday. Results show no evidence of cancer! That's right... CANCER FREE!!! She will still be needing maintenance treatment to ensure the cancer stays at bay, but for right now, there is no cancer in her little body! We can't even begin to express our emotions at this time, but we are going to relish in the fact that our God has performed this miracle!

The plan is for Addi to come home tomorrow and Leanne is so looking forward to being able to sleep in her own bed after more than a month. She kept saying to me the other day how homesick she was, so this is yet another answered prayer. This journey is not yet over but this news gives so much more hope for the outlook on Addi's future with this disease. Thank you all for your prayers thus far. Please continue to pray that Addi's healing stays on the positive track and that doctors know exactly how to treat her moving forward!

Much love!

Just spoke with Leanne. Addi had a rough night, lots of crying and just uncomfortable. She is having a full body scan today, along with a bone marrow aspiration, biopsy, and they plan to stitch up the opening from where the drain tube was inserted into her stomach. Even though the tube has been removed, her belly continues to drain fluid, so much so that they have placed something similar to a colostomy bag over the area.

Please pray that we get good news from the full body scan, biopsy, and bone marrow aspiration. Thank you all for you continued support, prayers, and donations!

PRAISE REPORT from Leanne!

So it has been an amazing day and I have to share all the exciting things that happened today. Addi had an ultrasound and the flow in her liver has reversed and is going the right way which means the clots and obstruction are GONE! Goodbye VOD! Still has some healing to do but it’s well on its way. Now the liver just has to continue to heal but lab tests are showing that all are almost to a normal level and trending in the right direction. She has a ways to go but she’s got this beat!
Addi woke me up at 4:30 am to change a poopy diaper! Yay for poop that means the bowels are waking up and working. She didn’t go back to sleep and we stayed up laughing, playing and talking! It felt so good to see my sweet Addi girl coming back and being herself again. It’s been a month since I have seen this side of her. Then she asked me for FOOD! This baby hasn’t had food in almost a month. I ordered her grits and she kept it down along with water and tea!!! Hasn’t vomited at all today!!! Yay for no vomit....that means her stomach is waking up! Praise God!
For the first time in almost a month she’s been awake and interacting ALL DAY with only a small nap. She’s now sitting up in a chair watching her iPad which she requested to do herself. Yeah it’s been a BIG day for our girl!!!
To say I’ve been smiling, thanking God and rejoicing all day would be an understatement. Her doctors and nurses are amazed at how good she looks just from this past Friday and how alert she is and they are all smiles with me today. I can’t even begin to thank everyone for all the prayers that are being said for Addi! Keep Praying that she continues to improve so we can go HOME! We are so homesick.
Now we pray for good scans with NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! They are planning for MIBG scan at the end of the week if she continues to improve and can handle the sedation. I’m just thanking God for performing a miracle in Addi’s life and I thank you for praying her through this time. We are so blessed! When the doctors give you little tell them we serve a God bigger then any sickness or disease and claim your healing!
Don’t ever tell me to let her go....cause God’s not finished with her yet! It’s been a GOOD, GOOD day!
Much love~LaLa
