Prince Daniel's Vet Bill Fund
My beloved cat of 6 years, Prince Daniel, affectionally called Dani, fell off the balcony down two stories and landed on the balcony below, the drop was roughly 10 metres and he hurt himself really badly. This happened on the 29th of June.
The neighbors found him on the balcony and came up to ring our doorbell with him in their lap, immediately upon seeing him I rushed to the balcony to find one of the windows wide open.
Dani was limping his left hind leg and bleeding from his chin, so I called the emergency number to the vet and rushed him in.
After the initial examination, including an ultrasound in case of his bladder being ruptured or any internal bleeding, the vet concluded that we needed to do an x-ray to see if the left hindleg was fractured.
After several hours of waiting, we got him back and were told that the left hock was fractured, but nothing else seemed to be damaged from the fall.
On the early morning of the 1st of July, Dani had an appointment for surgery.
He was xrayed again before beginning the surgery, to closer examine the fractured leg, and it was determined that there was fragmentation and it needed to be CT scanned to find where the fragment originated from.
We gave permission for the CT scan and it showed that the fragment was located on the backside of the hock, and was fixable in surgery.
The surgery ended up being succesful and the fractured bone was put together.
Now he's home with me and has to be held in a cage for three weeks to prevent him from using the recovering backleg. The recovery period will be around 6 weeks and his splint will have to be changed every week. Every time the splint has to be changed, we will be billed for.
After six weeks of recovery, Dani will be x-rayed again to see how the leg has healed. This will probably be around 800 euros more to the already huge bill.
The first vet visit was 519€
The second visit was 1512€
I am a student with no income, I'm basically living off of government wellfare. My mom is working two jobs and makes just enough to support the both of us. We had to take a loan to pay for Dani's care and will need all the help we can to pay it off.
Dani has been my best friend for 6 years, sleeping beside me every night. He was always there for me when I was sad, comforting me and letting me cuddle him.
Dani loves chatting with me, playing fetch with his favorite toys and is a very active, affectionate and happy cat in general.
TLDR: Dani fell and broke his leg, he was x-rayed twice, taken a computer topography of and went through surgery and we were hit with massive vet bills.
