Helping 500 Students Get School Supplies In Kenscoff
It was a Monday afternoon in a dark room with over 30 students in Kenscoff, Haiti. As usual, we were having our hour long entrepreneurship class. During these sessions we realized there's no way to convince the students to become entrepreneurs if they don't have basic school supplies. From this realization was born our social media campaign to collect school supplies called Prezan, which is a Creole word meaning "present" in English.
Last year we helped supply 200 students in Kenscoff, Haiti with the school supplies they needed to succeed including a geometry kit, backpack, pencils, notebooks, eraser, pencils sharpeners and more. Prezan is community-driven grassroots movement. 90% of our donations come from young professionals in the community who want to make a difference. Our goal this year is to help 500 students be "Prezan" at school.
For the next 30 days our team will be working nonstop to achieve this goal. This year we recruited ambassadors who will represent the movement in their workplace so that we can achieve our goals. We are partnering with Oh!Sound a recording studio who will provide the campaign official anthem for free and Tempo Plus, a local dance school, will provide a half-fee scholarship to anyone who donates. We thank them for being the first ones to support PREZAN and we are grateful to have them as partners.
During roll call, Haitian students who are attending class say “Prezan” (present in Creole) to confirm attendance; this is the origin of the campaign’s name. Due to shame, many students will stay home until they can get a minimum of supplies. Imagine that your son or your little sister is missing school because they don't have school supplies. Just take a second to picture it.

12-24 notebooks .The Kit (backpack, notebooks, pens, pencils, geometry kit, color pencils, sharpener, water bottle, books) we give to each student are worth from 10 to 20 USD.
