There are over 20 million Veterans in America today and approximately a 1,000 Veterans are dying each day. There is an urgent need to collect the personal accounts of their experiences while they are still among us.

"Incidently, today's my birthday. I'm 92. I'll be one of the few, if I live long enough, I might be one of the few World War II Veterans, we're dying off, somewhere near 400 a day...so there's not gonna be so many more of us...in about five years..."

“If you are not a Veteran you will never understand what they went through, trying to heal their wounds... I get emotional because so many of my friends are gone because we were not able to stop the flow of blood or the injuries. I have friends that are gone because of it and until you walk a mile in a Veteran's footprint you are not going to understand.”

Funds will go toward hiring production crews to film and edit interviews conducted at VFW Posts, American Legion Posts and other community locations. Our goal is to film and edit 100 interviews that will be reposited at the Flint Public Library’s digital collection, Michigan's Historical Museums and edited for airing on PBS stations.

The Interviews These Veteran Interviews are creating a stronger sense of cohesion and inclusiveness in our community. iMichigan Productions is proud to record and share these amazing stories and to be an agent of healing as Veterans talk about their service experiences.

Once I began speaking about it, I felt the stress release instantly because I no longer felt like I was a baby killer. America realized that we did something good in Vietnam…Once they hear your story, the respect is given… they say I didn’t know you went through all that…and for other Veterans they can feel better about what they have contributed to our country and the sacrifices they made. After years of pain and suffering, it just feels better once you talk about it.”

iMichigan Productions is a 501(c) (3) incorporated in the State of Michigan by media professionals with over 80 years of collective experience in the classroom and behind the lens. We started the project with a small grant from MCACA and we would like to continue to record, preserve and share these Veteran Stories on Public Television and Public Radio, iMichigan Productions and Peaceful Warriors Project websites, YouTube and Social Media sites like Facebook & Twitter.
iMichigan Productions' Peaceful Warriors Project celebrates the music of US Veterans and acknowledges their contributions to culture. It also tells compelling stories with Living History:Veterans Interviews which will be donated to the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project.
The production team of iMichigan Productions has decades of experience in managing Television, Video, Film and other media projects. iMichigan Productions has a reputation for quality work with their team of outstanding educators and digital filmmakers.
"The Michigan Experience: Vietnam Veterans" is hosted by longtime broadcaster, Michael J Thorp, who has worked in television, radio and film.
