Prescription Fund for U.S. Marine

Donation protected
I met Gunnery Sgt. Alphonso Williams aka "Gunny" one evening in January 2017.  He asked for some change, but all I had was a $1 bill.  He made me take the $.86 that he had collected; he said he "didn't want to take that much" from me.

Come to find out Gunny did two tours in Vietnam, lost his stomach and saved several other Marines.  However, like many others, he has struggled to receive a level of benefit from the VA that would allow him to afford medications AND groceries.   He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, yet can't seem to cut through the red tape with the VA.

Despite his considerable health conditions, Gunny might be the happiest person I know. I and others have found Gunny to be the best type of human being you'd care to meet. Warm, friendly and humble as they come.

Gunny would tell you that his new VA caseworker is working hard for him, and takes an active interest in his life, but nonetheless, I fear that help may not come in time or in quantity needed to help Gunny through the current phase of his life.

Over the last few months, Gunny has been in the hospital a few times, suffered a minor stroke and seen his blood pressure rise to dangerous levels.

One of the biggest struggles for Gunny has been affording his prescriptions.  While insurance covers the drugs, he typically has trouble coming up with his co-pay on time, which means he will lapse on medication for days or even weeks at a time.

With your help, we can raise enough money to cover Gunny's prescriptions for the foreseeable future, so that he can maximize the money he does get from the VA for rent and nutrition.
