Prepping to take foster-children

We have settled here in Munhall and have been lucky enough to have 6 children between us. In our lives we have both benefited from adults outside of our family who have been there for us in a variety of ways. We feel it is something that we would love to be able to do for others as well.

We are looking to open our home to help foster children in our area. Initially this was to be a slower process for us to prep our space accordingly, however it appears that the demand for homes is MUCH greater than we expected. The sooner we can have our home prepared the sooner we can begin helping the children.

Here is what we need to do in order to make the house appropriate for a greater number of children:

- Finish out the attic to turn in into an extra bedroom. (venting, insulation, framing, sheetrock)
- Finish enclosing a partial open living space to create an extra bedroom. (framing, sheet rock, door)
- Replace plumbing in upstairs shower. (wall, piping, faucet)
- Join two gas & water systems together to allow for full use of the second bathroom.

These are all things that we orginially were going to be doing over the next couple of years, but with the dire need for placeable homes doing this will make us able to take in children before the beginning of the school year. We have been asked if we can be ready as soon a possible as they already have placements for us.

And so, we are asking you to help us help them. 

They need a home and a family and we would love to be able to help give them what they need.
