Medical Bills for Robert Avery

Donation protected
Well when it rains it pours. On top of everything else going on more has been added.

On June 7,2016. Just coming home from my 3rd round of chemo not even able to change my clothes, I received a phone call regarding my son Robert Avery. Stating he was involved in a terrible car accident around 6:00pm. His truck flipped 7 times landing into a ditch. Luckily there was a bystander who saw the accident. Cops said he wouldn't of been found for awhile if it wasn't for her. He was airlifted to ORMC and has been in the ICU since then. After many test and cat-scans it has shown he broke his neck & his spine ( between c3- and c6 ). He underwent surgery on June 8. They fused his vertebra back together . He is on a respirator and will be having a trach put in next week. They have to wait for swelling to go down in his neck due to surgery he just had. As of now he is definitely paraplegic but there still might be a chance he is quadriplegic. The doctor say we will have to wait and see. He has a very long road ahead of him. Not sure how long he will have to stay in hospital plus rehab once released. He does not have insurance at the moment and medical bills are already stacking up. With the help from people at the hospital we will be trying to file for medicaid and help next week.

Update as of :: June 10 he is still in ICU, being heavily sedated. He has been having a fever for the past 2 days. His blood pressure was low yesterday. He has a blood clot in his right lung and his left lung collapsed, also showed a lot of fluid which needed to be removed. Where he broke his spine, he lost the ability to cough. Making him a very strong candidate for phenomena.

Update as of June 17 :: Rob was making steps forward & then back. Here is a cap of out last few weeks.
He had a fever for a few days and then he tested positive for septic shock && C Diff. They brought him down for an emergency surgery on June 17. They had to remove his colon and 7/8 inches of his rectum. Surgeon said thank god it didn't rupture because he wouldn't of even made it 24 hours. They left him open because they wanted to continue to check and make sure his insides were okay.
June 19 he went down for another procedure and the surgeon said all of his other organs looked pretty good. There was however a few spots on his small intestines.
They brought him down again on June 23 his insides still looked good. But they wanted his numbers better. They did however get his trach put in.
June 25 he had his temp pacemaker put in because his heart kept dropping in the morning and then that night they had to put in a tube into his right lung because he has a lot of fluid around the outside of the lung and it couldn't expand.
Here we are June 28 they were wanting to close him up but he had a fever of 103 they had brought him down to check and he had 3 small holes in his bowels. They closed the holes up and said they will bring him back down on Thursday to hopefully finally close him up!

Update as of Aug 2016 :: Robert has been moved from ICU to the trauma unit a few weeks ago. This has been a very long road. He was left open over a month from when he caught the C-Diff. He has the ability to use his upper arms (from his shoulders to his wrist). As of now there is still no function in his hands. He has not even started the process for the accident since there has been one thing after another with all the infections he has caught. ( This is because of him not having a working immune system.) He has been hanging in there and fighting against it all. These past few months has taken a huge toll on him. He has fallen into a severe depression. Which has left him very angry at the world. I spoke with some of the nurses and they are seeking help for this issue. On top of this depression his anxiety has been out of the roof. He still has not been able to eat or drink anything since coming into the hospital over 2 months ago.

If you can not donate we truly understand just please SHARE & keep him and my family in your prayers.

Thank you
Pat
