Slick is a really good boy. However, health wise he is not well and we need your help.
On Thanks giving weekend a swell worsened resulting in an abscess lateral to Slick’s private part. At first we thought it happened because he was near a female during her heat and just needed time to calm down after arousel however the condition worsened. On Sunday we went to the vet and since Slick was in such good spirit, he could run around and play, urinate, potty, eat regularly so we would just monitor his health and condition. On Tuesday October 9th everything got much worse, and he could not do his daily routines. Watching him not be able to eat his favourite foods and treats for the first time since he was born was super saddening and heartbreaking. We went on a walk and after a couple mins he turned around and wanted to go home. Coming from a pup that plays for hours on end do something like that was also heartbreaking. What’s going on with my best friend?
I called a close friend and explained to him Slicks symptoms and even though he was about to sleep and worked the next morning at 7am and he still replied to me saying he would arrive within 20mins (Thanks Remi). By this time Slick could not walk so my roommate(Mike C) and I picked up Slicks bed to bring him to the vehicle when my friend arrived.
We made 3 stops starting at 11pm to Calgary north vet but because the severity of the swelling and not enough proper supplies to help, they voided the diagnosis fees and recommended another clinic (thanks doctor Burns), we then went to Western which is a great facility and great staff however when I brought up my financial situation up the doctor recognized it would be best to go to Southern Alberta vet emergency where thousands of dollars can be saved. Finally at about 1:15am Slick is hospitalized, however the morning call received is not good and the swelling is getting worse and he needs to stay at the hospital for 3-5 days more than what the initial estimate quoted. He may need surgery to remove all the dying tissue and use more effective antibiotics to get the swelling down. Slick deserves a fighting chance. Slick has been there for me through ALL my hardships. When life sucks, he is ALWAYS there. Please let me keep my baby for as long as possible by increasing his chances to over come this challenge. If I had other options I would not be relying in crowd funding, however in this emergency situation my chosen family is all I have. I will get myself into a better position so I don’t get caught into situations like this and my best friend doesnt have to pay the the cost of my mistakes. Please help out anyway you can. I will be visiting Slick later tonight. He is strong and just needs help at this time. Thank you #prayforslick
