Prof Pam's Volunteers - Help Us

Hello - I am Pam Ludemannn, professor of psychology at Framingham State University, just outside Boston. For 3 years, my students and I have been taking the start of our summer breaks to help families in Guatemala.  In May 2015, with the help of many, 14 volunteers were able to travel to the outskirts of Antigua to provide clothing and shoes to over 100 children, build a needy family a home, and staff a 3 week after-school progam. 

Seven of the volunteers built a family a home in just 5 days through the charitable program, "From Houses to Homes."  From a corrigated one room lean-to for a family of 9 to a dry simple earthquake safe home, it was an amazingly wonderful experience for all despite many blisters and sore muscles.

Seven other volunteers funded and developed an after-school program for children ages 3 to 9.  They provided educational activities, nutrition, outings not likely to be experienced by these children, and unconditional love.



We also brought with us and distributed hundreds of sets of clothing and over 300 pairs of shoes to children.



Help us do it all again!  Your support will allow us to build 2 families homes and bring shoes to children who cannot fully participate in school activities without sneakers.  Our funding needs include:

$7000 to cover the costs of 2 homes
$1000 to cover the costs related to buying & packing our goal of 400 pairs of shoes.

Your support will be well used and greatly appreciated by my volunteers and by the families we can assist in making even a tiny dent in their poverty.  The children are joyful, loving. and appreciative of even the simplest of "gifts" that most of us take for granted.  A toy, a pair of shoes that fit, or the reading of a book are wonders to many.
